With the ongoing building project of our new arts center under scrutiny, it's important to remember the vital role this organization continues to play in the lives of our residents and visitors. Local papers carry the news about the struggles (http://www.adirondackexpress.com) but the website of the arts center itself reminds us of how important it is for these disputes to be resolved, on order that talented artists continue to have wonderful display places to share their work, and, even - to produce it!
Francis King of Baldwinsville N.Y. had some of his incredible wood carvings on display in the Glass Case at the Arts Center/Old Forge during the month of August.
Francis had been carving since 1987. He has been a nature lover all his life, getting his inspiration from nature walks and bird watching. Francis carves mostly song birds, and displays his carvings at various shows, and has won numerous awards.
Admission to the National Watercolor Exhibition that opens on August 23 and runs to October 5 is $5/$3 for members. Gallery Hours are 10 am - 4 pm daily and Sunday, noon - 4 pm.

We wish the center the very best in its building efforts!
